The Year of The Red Fox

We have dubbed 2022 as “The Year of the Fox”. For several years, we never had occasion to see any foxes, and then this year, we’ve been blessed with 4 separate occasions where we observed, at length, two different adult foxes and then 2 separate litters of kits in Ontario, Canada.

Looking for a distraction from its sibling’s attention, one red fox kit thought it a great idea to dig a hole.

Rolling in the cool earth was a big draw!

Suddenly, the fox kits pricked their ears to attention.

Though we were quite distant, the snap of a twig alerted them to our presence.

We had a brief few minutes in the woods with these fox kits before moving on.
