Bob and I planned a more leisurely pace for our third day in the area of Little Manitou Lake in Saskatchewan, Canada. Local people in the village of Manitou Beach had informed us of a short trail to a lookout overlooking the lake and surrounding area. After spending the morning exploring the mega dunes that border West Lake in Sandbanks Provincial Park, Bob and I decided to walk the official Dunes Trail in the park. The reward for our extra effort was being serenaded by a beautiful Eastern Towhee. Read more

Sunrise must have been a little before 5:30 a.m. because that is when I woke up to a bright sunbeam that found a chink in the room-darkening drapes. I jumped out of bed and snapped a photo but already the brilliant orb was a short distance above the horizon. Read more
