On a bitterly cold January day with temperatures of -20 Celsius when the wind chill was factored in, Bob and I, drove out to Thickson’s Woods in Whitby, Ontario, because we had heard that two Great Horned Owls make their home in that unique small forest. Late one fall, Bob and I hiked a new trail at Rouge National Urban Park, here in Toronto, Ontario. We were amazed at how remote it felt on the edge of a big city, and the Bufflehead ducks that are from the Arctic seemed right at home. Read more
With fall drawing to a quick close, Bob and I took advantage of the weather for one last autumn hike in Algonquin Provincial Park, in Ontario. We are always on the search for wildlife so were pleased to come upon a Ruffed Grouse.
On a windy, snowy day in Ontario, Bob and I headed north towards Algonquin Provincial Park on one of our frequent treks in that direction. It was a particularly stormy day as we navigated the highway, and, as always, we were watching for wildlife. But suddenly we came upon a group of Eastern wild turkey’s on the road. Read more

We took a drive up from Toronto, Ontario on October 1, 2012, to checkout the fall colors in the Algonquin Park and Oxtongue Lake areas. From atop the Dorset tower, the view of the color sure proved the drive worthwhile. According to the local people with whom we spoke, this was the best fall color seen in this area in 10 years. For the first time ever, the Community of Oxtongue Lake took part in Doors Open Ontario. For Bob and I, it was a thrill to attend , and as things would turn out, it was a total success! Read more
