On an unseasonably warm January day, Bob and I visited Lynde Shores Conservation Area in Whitby, Ontario, to do some birdwatching. No sooner had we entered the grounds than a huge flock of eastern wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) were found clogging the walkway of the Bird Feeding Trail. Read more
There are few places on the planet that Bob and I have visited that can compare to Paris In The Spring. And even as our picture illustrates, it does get cloudy in that City of Light. Paris is a city where time seems to stand still, and as you walk its streets, hills and riverside, the past and present seem to meld into one. Read more
One spring, in our local Toronto park, in Ontario, a Sharp-shinned hawk (Accipiter striatus) was taking issue with the weather even as a gentle mist continued to settle on the land. The hawk had taken refuge in the top of a local century old maple tree. Read more
With winter finally getting a grip on the land, Bob and I decided it was time for a hike on the Seaton Hiking Trail along the Green River near Whitevale, north of Pickering, Ontario. Our outing proved worth the effort when we sighted wild beavers swimming up the river. Read more
Beneath a very cloudy sky, Bob and I decided to visit Milliken Park in Toronto, Ontario, to see if we could spot any birds. As it turned out, we spotted a Sharp-shinned Hawk. Read more
Bob and I were able to observe a group of Pine Grosbeaks on a visit to Oxtongue Lake, in Ontario. What a marvelous opportunity to study their behavior and also take a few pictures. Much like Gray Jays, Pine Grosbeaks are not put off by people, and actually are very easy to approach. Read more
After spending close to a month touring Peru, Bob and I returned to the capital city of Lima and spent our last day touring the city’s old quarter before flying back to Canada. Read more
