Having completed our tour of Western Brook Pond and with part of the afternoon still available for exploration, Bob and I decided to stop at the site of the 1919 shipwreck, the S.S. Ethie, on the west coast of Newfoundland. Read more

A must-see for Bob and me while traveling in Ireland was Newgrange, an important passage grave west of Drogheda in County Meath. This megalithic structure is considered one of the most important in Europe and the great national monument of Ireland. Read more
Waking up extra early in Val Marie had its advantages. Bob and I had time for a stroll around the village before it was time for breakfast. At the bottom of Centre Street, the Val Marie Elevator stood tall. Read more
Bob and I arrived at Shakaland in South Africa around noon after driving from Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. We were delayed several times with various animal sightings that had us stopping for photographs. Read more
After arriving in Port Elizabeth under the cover of darkness the night before, Bob and I were anxious to do a bit of exploring after breakfast the next morning. A dull grey sky hung low over the coast as we began beachcombing for natural treasures along the Indian Ocean.
After indulging in a full English breakfast at the Kennard Hotel in Bath, England, Bob, our son and I set off in search of the Bath Boating Station. Our aim was to rent a punt and pole ourselves along the Avon River. Read more
