Bob and I planned a more leisurely pace for our third day in the area of Little Manitou Lake in Saskatchewan, Canada. Local people in the village of Manitou Beach had informed us of a short trail to a lookout overlooking the lake and surrounding area. Having read countless novels with stories set in medieval England, a visit to Warwick Castle in the county town of Warwickshire in England intrigued us. Owned by the Toussaud’s at the time, the Castle was populated with period actors, and demonstrations and re-enactments promised to keep us entertained. Read more
After visiting Boulder Beach on our day’s excursion from Cape Town, South Africa, it was decided to push on to the legendary Cape of Good Hope. Only known to me through history lessons in grade school, the Cape of Good Hope instilled a sense of wonder in me. I could hardly wait to see it! Read more
L’Anse aux Meadows had immersed us in the Viking history of Newfoundland a day earlier, and now, it would be time to travel to our next destination. Sunrise must have been a little before 5:30 a.m. because that is when I woke up to a bright sunbeam that found a chink in the room-darkening drapes. I jumped out of bed and snapped a photo but already the brilliant orb was a short distance above the horizon. Read more
