After exploring Great Sand Hills Ecological Preserve a day earlier, Bob and I were now en route to Little Manitou Lake in Watrous. What we did not expect to find was Danceland, a world famous dance hall overlooking the lake. Read more
After completing our tour of a Murano glass factory in Venice, Bob and I were anxious to get back to the Grand Canal. In no time, a water taxi whisked us across the water. Santa Maria della Salute rose high on the horizon where it stands at the junction of the Grand and Giudecca Canals. Read more
Way before Bob and I decided to go to New Zealand, I held close to my heart the idea of one day visiting Hobbiton. Just as Frodo’s adventure began when he exuberantly ran from Hobbiton along Gandalf’s Cutting, so our adventure began by entering Middle Earth along that same narrow footpath. Read more
It is with fond memories that Bob and I recall skating on the woodland skating rink called Cedarena. Nestled into a valley along Little Rouge Creek in what is now Rouge National Urban Park, this skating rink provided the most whimsical experience when visited on a Tuesday evening. Read more
Having completed our tour of Western Brook Pond and with part of the afternoon still available for exploration, Bob and I decided to stop at the site of the 1919 shipwreck, the S.S. Ethie, on the west coast of Newfoundland. Read more
After finishing our picnic lunch at Newgrange, there was time to make one last stop in County Meath to round out our 2-week stay in Ireland. Near Skryne, the ancient ceremonial and burial site called The Hill of Tara was worthy of exploration. Read more
Bob and I arrived at Shakaland in South Africa around noon after driving from Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. We were delayed several times with various animal sightings that had us stopping for photographs. Read more
Owing to the covid-19 pandemic, Markham Fair, like so many other events, was canceled for 2020. We thought it fitting, then, to look back in time at Markham Fair as we have experienced it with our family over the past 40 years. Read more
