One of my favourite animals seen when visiting South Africa was the tall, elegant South African Giraffe.  Also known as the Cape Giraffe, Bob and I came across these gentle giants on several occasions as we toured Kruger National Park, and it was always a pleasure to sit and observe them. San Gimignano is a well-preserved medieval hill town in the Italian province of Siena that is famous as the town “with a thousand towers”.  Dominating the horizon from its perch, San Gimignano creates an unforgettable skyline complete with its encircling stone walls and towers.  No wonder it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Miracle Of The Leaning Tower of Pisa, And We Give A Hand!

Despite our intentions of arriving at the Leaning Tower of Pisa early in the day, we found ourselves landing at the popular tourist destination alongside hundreds of fellow sightseers.  This world-famous freestanding bell tower is considered one of the most remarkable architectural structures from medieval Europe and possibly the tallest bell tower in Europe.
