After our morning wanderings on the trails in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan, Canada, Bob and I devoured a tasty lunch at Manitou Springs Resort & Mineral Spa. We seldom indulge in self pampering so were invigorated by a dip in the healing waters of Little Manitou Lake that fill the spa pools. Read more
Bob and I planned a more leisurely pace for our third day in the area of Little Manitou Lake in Saskatchewan, Canada. Local people in the village of Manitou Beach had informed us of a short trail to a lookout overlooking the lake and surrounding area. They also mentioned that Wellington Park was worthy of a visit, so we thought we’d check it out. Read more

The first day of summer in Saskatchewan broke rainy and cool with the mercury sitting at 9° Celsius at 10 a.m. Despite the bleak morning, our spirits were lifted by a candlelit breakfast since the power had been knocked out in Val Marie. Although we were sad to leave Grasslands National Park, our next destination, Great Sand Hills Ecological Reserve, promised to deliver a unique experience. Read more

On our first full day at Grasslands National Park, after waking up very early and having a hearty breakfast, we took the advice of our hostess and set out to drive the Ecotour Road to the Borderlands Lookout. It was a relaxing way to start our explorations on the heels of a very long travel day. Read more
After our flight from Toronto to Regina, Bob and I drove directly to Grasslands National Park near the southern border of Saskatchewan. We were determined to complete a hike in the East Block of this Park and opted to do the Valley of 1000 Devils Route before traveling further west to Val Marie on the edge of the Park’s West Block.
