It was one day as Bob and I sat in the car alongside a gravel road in Kruger National Park that we saw this prime example of an African Bush Elephant.  We had pulled to the side of the road to sit for a spell and eat our lunch when this behemoth stepped from the cover of thick vegetation onto the road right in front of us.  Talk about lunchtime entertainment! I couldn’t help myself but every time that Bob and I saw warthogs in South Africa, I thought of Pumbaa, the warthog in the Disney film The Lion King.  And when Bob and I were conducting our self-guided safaris within Kruger National Park, we saw our fair share of these unusual looking animals. When Bob and I visited Monteverde, we hiked in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve multiple times.  One day, we found ourselves alone on a trail in the jungle.  I was ahead of Bob when I heard him exclaim in a loud whisper “there they are!”  I stopped in my tracks for Bob could only mean the Resplendent Quetzals.  The pair was perched less than 20 feet to the side of the trail. On a wintry day, Bob and I headed to our local Toronto, Ontario, park for some fresh air and a bit of exercise.  As we walked the asphalt trail through a wooded section of the park, I noticed movement off to the side of the walkway.  A young Virginia Opossum had dared to be out of its den during daylight hours!
